Playing the Michelle Card Michelle Obama and Black Women

In Afrian American Twitters, African American Bloggers, African American Blogs, Black Women Bloggers, african american twitters, barack obama, black blogger, black bloggers, black twitters, democrats, ethnic twitters, female blogger, politics on May 25, 2009 at 11:02 pm

As we prepare for the announcement of a New Supreme Court Justice the writing is on the wall that though black women have been part of this country since it’s founding there will not be a black female Supreme Court Justice.  The major news outlets refuse to even consider that a black women will sit on the supreme court.   However the big signal that a black women will not be the definite choice for the Supreme Court is the huge cover article that the Obama propoganda machine has negotiated on Michelle Obama with Time magazine, hitting the stands the same week that everyone speculates that Barack Obama will announce a new Supreme Court nominee in essence playing the Michelle card to Black women and those who care for them.

While it is refreshing to have a Black First Lady in the White House its becoming increasingly obvious that she has no or does not care to  have any sway or bedtime influence on her husband as it relates to black women and their position in the Obama administration.  The nonadvocacy of the aspirations of black females in the upper reaches in government have literally been squashed in the Obama administration.  For the first time in sixteen years a black women will not hold a cabinet position in a  presidential administration.

Unofficially from the Obama administration the cabinet position a black woman holds in the Obama administration is first lady.  Never before has a first lady been trotted out and purveyed, what an example to black women, what an accomplishment she got married and managed to not be a welfare queen with ten children.  There is a black first lady which is a wonderful and groundbreaking but I think most people expect it comes with having a black president.

The Michelle card has been played in many ways when it was pretty obvious that Barack Obama had no blood ties with the African American descendantsof western slaves, the connection of Obama to West Africa comparative to being Chinese versus Japanese or vice versa, the Obama supporters shouted out that Michelle was a descendant of West African slaves and his children would therefore carry on that legacy.  African Americans and those who cared for African Americans thought that Michelle Obama was the prescription to the fact that Obama’s descendants were never enslaved and Obama would essentially be stealing the legacy of African American heritage to become president of the United States and to indicate that there was a new Nirvana of racial love in the United States.

What Obama’s administration as indicated by his one black cabinet appointee a position held by this black at the beginning of the Bush II administration is that Obama of interacial heritage and  having gained the right to be president from his white mother’s U.S. citizenship does not identify in his mind, heart, or soul with black people.  Obama is black on the outside and white on the inside and feels no loyalty to blacks.  Blacks for Obama are a means to an end.  This has been a key trait of Obama as politician the strong tendency to bit the hand that feeds him.  This is strongly exemplified in the incident of Obama giving  a now convicted felon contracts to run a housing project in his disctrict  that lacked the very nesscessary ingredient of Heat in icy cold Chicago.  When Obama’s constituents called to complain their calls were never returned.  More on the Rezko deal can be found here.    Obama’s identification with his caucasion side comes out at time with an almost exageratted claim to blackness I have a black wife, I play basketball, I talk slang a self proclaimed wigger is what Obama’s exagerations shout.

In any event the Times article on Michelle Obama at such an oppurtune time can mean only one thing a black women will not be nominated for Supreme Court Justice and if you don’t like it just read the nice Times article on Michelle Obama its so nice to have a black first lady is it not aren’t all of us black women lucky, be grateful for what you have and what you can get righto!!!!!!

The Strange Career of Alien Labor in the South

In politics on May 2, 2009 at 7:33 am

As I attempted to drive into City Hall East for business.  I came to the realization that I would not be going into the building because an impromptu slave market had been created in front of city hall and I was not comfortable walking through a throng of men to get to the other side of the street.  It was a slave market made up of individuals who appeared to be Hispanic and I assumed illegal immigrants but maybe not.

I was shocked to see this, in the fair city of Atlanta.  I had seen numerous scenes of cops literally standing over black and white men who dared to stand in the corner of a door.  As a former Atlanta college student who racked up  parking tickets as students do,  I had witnessed numerous vagrants black and white going to jail for standing on the street too long.  I had even witnessed one female judge give the vagrants their rights and tell them they did not have to serve jail time because their rights had been violated.  One vagrant preferred to go to jail, I suppose jail served his needs for food shelter and clothing.  However most individuals do not want to go to jail for loitering or harassed for loitering and it is not tolerated in this fair state unless you are Hispanic.  Atlanta even has signs that say talking to a stranger on the street is illegal.

As I turned to leave the parking lot of the slave mart I saw a black man and said I was shocked at what was going on.  He responded that the immigrants were standing there because there were no jobs.   I went around the corner and spoke to a lady at a stop light and said I was shocked at what I saw, a literal slave market.  She like the black man before her seemed a little peeved that I would ask about the slave mart and said the immigrants are looking for work and the neighborhood was about to go through “big changes” and they were renovating.  I did recall seeing a Sothebys real estate sign when driving up from North Avenue in Atlanta but could not put together a slave mart with a Sothebys sign. I suppose it was an unsaid understanding in this neighborhood of the openly gay, vegan, any thing goes community that American men and women do not deserve a fair wage and illegal aliens did not have any human rights .  Everything prior liberal individuals had fought for was being thrown out the door for a Sothebys commission.  I suppose this is the advent of a new liberalism, an antithesis to the me generation when me literally means the individual and not the overall society in general, me means prosperity not concern for the weaker man.  Yes, this is my generation fortunately my mother was slightly older when she had me so I was raised by a 60’s radical not a disco duck.

As I thought about this and also thought about another slave market that I knew about further North of town, it suddenly dawned on me that while Obama had been comparing himself to Lincoln, ironically Obama is facing the same economic pressures as Lincoln did involving labor,  literal human bodies, that Lincoln did.  I will never forget a passage that I read about in a book called The Strange Career of Jim Crow the passage said something to the effect when slavery was over, white men and black men held hands and jubilantly ran down the hill in joy because they knew that labor was no longer an issue and they both would get paid for their work.  Ten years into the millennium the United States has a labor problem again.  Republicans are not just undercutting the government by sending their jobs over seas but openly gay, vegan, yoga folks are undercutting the government too by refusing to hire individuals who are willing to work for an honest wage or hire a renovation company with skilled artisans. I suppose it could be said if democrats are getting theirs and republicans are getting theirs why should anyone be concerned, it seems like there is some mystical gravy train that is open to anyone who has half of a brain.

As I returned the next day to take pictures of the slave mart which I did not becuase I did not get their until 10:30 and it had thinned out. I went into the whole foods market and had such a great time at their restaurant.  I felt maybe I was being oversensitive to the issue and everything was cool.   While sitting at the whole foods restaurant I did notice that every race was hopping on the cheap immigrant labor bandwagon. I  watched trucks move in and out of the area with ladders, building materials, windows etc.  Again it was accepted that immigrant labor had replaced the labor of men who had not hopped on the capitalist or educational ladder.  There is a new slave class in town and they want it.  How ironic for the south to completely embrace a new form of sharecropping or slavery.  Some things will never change.

While this may seem like a benign issue a way of getting your before someone else does.  The honest truth is that this immigrant labor not bound by minimum wage or other  requirements can only remake the United States into a third world nation.  Either U.S. citizens will join them on the slave mart or they will be in bread lines.  The media is toting that more women than men are working this can partially be blamed on illegal immigrants.  I am not a racist, I am a realist and based on historical factors if one group undercuts another in terms of what their labor is offered for, the other group seeking an honest wage will be eating dirt at the bottom of a bridge.

There is a Sothebys sign on the one side of city hall and a slave mart on the other side, this is a conflict someone is going to pay a Sothebys price for a home but unfortunately just like the mortgage flippers they will not be paying for the quality of labor or for the honesty of labor.  They will live in a house full of negative energy without the knowledge that their home has been renovated by exploited laborers and contributed to honest men enjoying the taste of dirt in their mouths at the bottom of a bridge.

Rahm Emmanuel is criticizing Paul Krugman, maybe it’s because Krugman should have been head of Obama’s economic team but Emmanual dropped the ball. Gordon Brown’s trip to the United States to talk about the Global economy just goes to show that the man who won a Nobel Prize for his global economic theories should be in the Obama cabinet; maybe the stock market would not fall every time the obama economic team opened their mouth if Krugman were heading the team.

A top economic man who is not smart enough to do his taxes correctly is troubling.  I am also troubled that some Republicans are coming out with a stamp to stamp under the fed chiefs name on the U.S. currency that says tax cheat.  Why doesn’t the current fed chief just resign and let the Nobel Prize Winner in Global economic Theories take the helm.  This is not a game.

Phillip Tracy Smith Stop The Negative Comments to My Blog

In African American Bloggers, African American Blogs, Black Women Bloggers, black blogger, black bloggers, child support, family, female blogger, female bloggers, politics on March 3, 2009 at 1:25 pm

Hello Phillip recently because of you I had to stop open comments to my blog.  This is something that I don’t believe in.  I believe that anybody who wants to comment can. However I had to delete your comments because they were so full of lies.

In addition your wife proceeded to make comments also,  by that time I was holding comments for moderation. Because of this your wife’s work url was revealed.  If you all continue to write negative comments to the blog.  I will have to fax the comments to her employer and request that their employees cease commenting to my blog. Furthermore in your wife’s comment she mentioned that what has to be paid is such a small amount.  If  it’s so small then why don’t you pay it.  It’s not so small now since you’ve missed 4-5 months though.   ” PAY IT”

With that said I am releasing comments to no-moderation because frankly I don’t want any-ones information emailed to me. I want people to be able to make totally anonymous  comments.

This started because Phillip Smith you have not paid child support.  You have not paid child support for the last 4-5 months.  No one seems to care that you have not paid.  Usually by now a court date would have been established like it has been for the last several years but this year someone has dropped the ball and is letting you get away with not paying.

I find it rather strange you are not paying.  Your daughter in San Diego is now 19 and you no longer have to pay child support for her so you should be able to handle this child support payment to your son.

If individuals are looking for background on this issue, please refer to this blog entry

Furthermore Philip Tracy Smith I left a message with your mom that your son had Pnemonia two weeks ago and noone from your family could call and see if he’s OK.  This is pathetic that you can comment to my blog but you can not enquire about your child.  Let’s refer back to what your mom said when I met you she said you were a nice guy and asked me to please be nice to you.  Your family can’t even inquire about a child with their blood, yet they are asking a 23 year old women to take care of a 43 year old man.   This is disgraceful.

Furthermore, when your son was ill when he was little my mother was at a supposed friends house and she said you called this friends house who you had met at your sons christening.  I did not believe her until I saw where your wife worked.  I know this friend has gotten jobs at this place for many of her relatives especially the ones she pulled strings for to get them into  undergrad and then medical school after they flunked out of a famous military academy.  So if you see this mutual friend tellher I said hello becsue I’m pretty sure she pulled the strings to get your wife this job.

Hating On Obama – Hating for No Reason

Lil Wayne (WeezY)

For the first time since maybe the constitution was written we have a President that actually cares about the people.  We have a president that actually wants to make the United States “ideal” of Liberty and Justice for All, real.  While I have wavered and waned on my support of Barack Obama during the election.  Since he has been elected the only behavior I’ve seen from Barack Obama is a caring and concern for the American people that is unprecedented.  The haters coming out of the woodwork have literally stunned me.   I can honestly say that I was unaware of the hate that certain white people felt for blacks until Barack Obama was elected.  I would have never dreamed that so many self proclaimed Republicans and Caucasians associated Blacks with watermelon and fried chicken.

The two incidents that I’ve heard about involved individuals on the government pay roll. This is really a cause for concern that in the first case,  a mayor of a town sent  an email with the following picture to his list:

The Mayor says the President Will Not have an Easter Egg Hunt But A Watermelon Hunt this Easter

The Mayor says the "President" Will Not have an Easter Egg Hunt But A Watermelon Hunt this Easter

stating there will not be an Easter Egg hunt this spring at the White House but a watermelon hunt.   The second incident involved cops who stated on their face book pages that:

“the rose garden will be turned into the watermelon garden” that there will be a “KFC set up right in front of the white house”

The scary part about these comments is that these individuals interact with the public.  We will never know how many people have not been hired, who’ve been falsely accused and arrested, and wronged just because of racists in the woodwork.

Meanwhile the conservative Republicans are meeting and they don’t have a clue why they lost the White House and a large number of congressional seats.  This is really quite funny that they fail to realize that the reason they  lost is because of their lack of concern and ignorance of the needs of ordinary people.  Instead of utilizing a strategy of how can we show that we are concerned and how can we win in 2016.  They are insulting the President of the United States.  They are using the same tactics that caused them to lose the White House by close to double digits. “Pathetic”  The only people who are fooled are the racists. WAKE UP REPUBLICANS!

I been  in and out the bank bitch
While ya’ll asshole niggas been on the same shit
I flush em and watch em go down the drain quick
Two words you neva hear WAYNE QUIT

The Case For Co Ed Prisons One Social Problem is Leading to Another

In AIDS, African American Bloggers, Black Women Bloggers, College Educated, Crime, Education, Poverty, Race, Race and Class, The Economy, black blogger, black bloggers, civil rights, economy, educational policies, employment, politicians, politics on February 27, 2009 at 11:21 pm

Prisoners likely to take home AIDS

Curiosity Killed the Cat

I have begun a dreamboard.  Today in order to be really thorough about what I was looking for I decided to look for a picture of a penis to put behind  my dream board.  I was a little taken aback to see that I could not find one that was straight or not with a Caucasian in the first several pages of Google.  Even so the gay black penises outnumbered the black penises with Caucasians.   I just finally gave up with an awful awful bad taste in my mouth.  I had to sit there and wonder if black people could sustain a society where it’s beginning to look like a large group of the male population are openly gay or on the DL.

As my thoughts roared through my mind I understood that a percentage of every population will include people who are just absolutely positively homosexual and can’t help it but the male homosexual population seems to be accelerating in the black community like Moores Law, exponentially.  While personally I subscribe some of it to the lack of male role models, economic hardship and exploitation, children without fathers, the water, the chicken etc.  My personal opinion is that the generations and gnerations of different incarcerated men are one of the main factors contributing to the incredible rise and acceptance  of homosexuality in the black community.

According to the American Sociological Association 20% of black men born between 1965 and 1969 had served prison time before they were the age of thirty compared to three percent of white men .  The rate of incarceration for black males went up significantly based upon what level of education they had.  Thirty percent of black high school graduates had served prison time by their early thirties and close to sixty percent of high school dropouts had served time in the Federal Penitentiary by the time they were thirty.  These numbers are just totally unacceptable and indicate a profound problem in the United States of America as it relates to black Americans and black society. With dropouts in recent years reaching close to fifty percent, it is becoming increasingly obvious that if alternatives and solutions are not implemented to help these men that the United States will face a crisis that it will not be able to handle.

As for homosexuality and the prison population, I personally think that a coed solution needs to be implemented immediately while the risks are obvious by making the prison population coed like pregnancy.  An implementation of a coed prison system could be a choice that prisoners make with the agreement that they take injectable birth control monthly.  Obviously the penal system is not doing a good job in controlling sexual intercourse in the penal system, it does not make sense to keep prisons same sex and cause deviant behavior and increase the spread of AIDS not just in prison but out of prison also.  Something needs to be done if prisoners are creating alternative lifestyles that will make it even more difficult to integrate into society we as citizens have an obligation to intercede.

I will be writing my congressman about this issue and idea.  I think it is a sound one that may reduce the numbers of prisoners returning to prison.

The folowing sources reference or discuss coed prisons

The Big House Goes Coed
Stephen Harrigan
Texas Monthly 03/01/74

Quote

” It’s a sort of penal mock-up of society, designed to reintroduce people who have been trying to survive in penitentiaries into a bigger world where the definition of survival is more elusive, a world that more often than not throws them and their prison-learned coping schemes off, like a body rejecting a transplanted organ. Nearly half the residents at FCI are in prison on drug-related charges. All are at least two years “short,” meaning they have two years or less remaining on their sentences. When they have six months or less to go they’re eligible for furloughs, community programs, family programs and other chaperoned sorties into the outside world.”

Quote

“But violence (judging from both official and resident sources) is sufficiently rare as to be only an occasional individual problem. Homosexual attacks, common in penitentiaries, are rarer still, and according to quite a few of the residents homosexuality itself is almost insignificant.”

Is there a Moratorium On Collecting Child Support “Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Meets In Atlanta”

In African American Bloggers, Black Women Bloggers, The Economy, black bloggers, democrats, family, female blogger, female bloggers, politics on January 26, 2009 at 7:06 am

The other day a dear friend called me and said I’m coming to Atlanta for my fraternity meeting. We started to talk and I suppose he remembered that my sons father was in the same Fraternity he was in and he said I know he pays child support, he’s a Morehouse Alpha. I had to say no he does not pay child support. No one seems to want to make him pay child support and since Barack Obama has been elected he has not paid child support and probably won’t.

In Georgia we know that if there is a Democrat in office men are not going to support their children. I remember we had a Democratic Governor in Georgia and the child support workers were losing files, could not find a non paying father and were generally nonfeasent, misfeasent, and malfeasent.

In my case if anyone sees Philip Tracy Smith of Ellenwood, Georgia, a non-payer to at least two children one in Texas and one in Atlanta supposedly who owns a staffing agency and writes up mortgages and who’s license should be suspended please tell him to pay child support.

Furthermore if you want to know how I hooked up with him. I told him when we were thinking about dating that he just did not seem to be the sort of person I was interested in because he had a lot of problems. What did he do? He called his mother and had her tell me that he was a good person, he just had problems, but was a decent individual.

In addition I left him for talking about a woman who was just a friend too much. He slept outside of my door all night and asked for forgiveness. Who is he married to know? This woman. He is a certified rat.

Years later he’s not paying child support, though his Frat brother is sure that he is or should be and he’s not.

Finally as the senate looks to confirm Eric Holder as head of the Department of Justice who might also be a member of this fraternity, I’m not sure though my friend insisted on naming a long line of frat folks to me on the phone he did not mention Holder so he’s probably not; in any event all women should be mindful that Holder might be prepared to have the justice department look left while deadbeat dads refuse to pay child support.

Falsely accused of Shoplifting Alert: Protect Yourself

In AIDS, African American Bloggers, African American Blogs, Atlanta, Black Women Bloggers, The Economy, black blogger, black bloggers, politics on January 13, 2009 at 9:45 am

As many of you may be aware of I was falsely accused of shoplifting at  Vision Works at Stonecrest  Mall in Lithonia Georgia  and accused and taken to jail for disorderly conduct instead.  If you want proof you can view what I was taken into custody for at http://drop.io/falseaccusation . In addition I will be uploading other articles related to the subject as time permits.

In any event I had to write this post today because as I’m doing research on the issue I became afraid not just for myself but for everyone who walks into a shopping mall, place of business, or retail establishment.  I am certainly afraid for folks to go to the mall that I went to.  In this harsh economic environment one should ask themselves if they can afford the  loss of reputation and the innuendo that can be garnered from a false and  malicious accusation that can linger with you even if you have not done anything wrong.  One should seriously weigh this issue before entering a retail establishment.  The facts are in this climate shopkeepers can utter any amount of lies about you they choose to.    The facts are also in that you don’t know who’s behind the counter and what their morals and values are.  There are actually immoral people working as shopkeepers, police officers, and security guards who will tell lies just for fun and entertainment or just because they don’t like the way you look.

If you have places where you have shopped for years without incident and others have too.  It  is probably wise to stick to areas like this but if people are whispering about a location and it’s treatment of individuals is questionable, it’s probably wise to stay away from there especially if you have an employer, are young and have a future or just have dreams and aspirations.  Furthermore the emotional toll and stress of being falsely accused and harassed is not worth it.  Finally the parents of Teenagers should keep their children away from establishments that have a history and record of doing bad things.

While loss of reputation is something that most people can live with, the loss of life is something that no one can live with because they are dead.  As I’ve been researching the issue of the falsely accused.  I’ve come across disturbing incidents involving the not guilty and the guilty that have resulted in individuals being beaten to death in the back rooms of stores and malls, people being shot in the parking lot, and many deaths related to individuals being wrongfully and rightfully accused of shoplifting.  I suppose if a person is a shoplifter they should go to the backroom and try to work it out  but if you are minding your own business, have never ever been accused of stealing or shoplifting in your life, have never been convicted of a felony, and only convicted of misdemeanors related to traffic tickets like me you should really hesitate before you go into any back room with anyone or even leave the spot you are in, judging from what I’ve read and what’s been on the news lately in terms of officers shooting people in the back, and just plain killing people without cause.  “DO NOT GO INTO A BACK ROOM IF YOU HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG AND FEEL THAT YOU ARE BEING MALICIOUSLY TARGETED YOU MAY NOT GET OUT OF THE ROOM ALIVE.”

As for honestly what to do I don’t know, in my case I told the security guard I did not want to get out of the car but he insisted.

I am wondering if trying to call an attorney is even possible when falsely accused in a retail establishment.  Isn’t it strange that as citizens of the United States we have rights and can not be detained without cause or proof  but as soon as we step into a retail location evidently by the many cases that I’ve been reading.  Individuals give up their constitutional and Miranda rights when accosted by a Security Guard in a retail establishment.  Illegal search and seizure is against the law but because I was in the parking lot of an establishment the security guard could insist that I get out of the car with a gun attached this hip.

The following are quotes from blogs and other sources discussing the above issues.

The following post is taken from a blog called Civil Rights Watch

Many big-box retail stores have come under fire lately for treating their minority customers in a discriminatory fashion. For instance, Macy’s East was sued by the State of New York for discrimination in the form of racial profiling in its New York stores. On January 14, 2005, Macy’s reached a settlement with the state, agreeing to pay a fine in the amount of $600,000 and to retrain its security forces to avoid racial profiling in the future.

However, next to Dillard’s, Macy’s looks like Jesse Jackson’s Shirts ‘n More. Since 1994, six people have been killed in Dillard’s. Five of them were minorities. The deaths occurred in Houston, San Antonio, Memphis, Arlington (TX), Cleveland and El Paso. None of the victims had weapons. Some were accused of shoplifting; some had the temerity to argue with Dillard’s security officers about unfair treatment and paid with their lives. Two of the victims had, in fact, stolen goods from Dillard’s (one stole a box of sunglasses, the other stole a beard trimmer). Those two people were shot in the parking lot, after having made it out of the store. Though criminal behavior, shoplifting is not a capital crime in the United States and security officers are not empowered to act as judge, jury and executioner. Furthermore, alleged shoplifting does not give the officer-cum-cowboy the right to endanger the lives of all the other people in the mall parking lot as he shoots at his suspect-bad guy.

Dillard’s employs off-duty and retired police officers as its security guards. Because Dillard’s views these officers as independent contractors, the company does not offer them any training or guidelines, they are not monitored and Dillard’s does not conduct any checks into their personal or professional backgrounds. These are the security guards who harass, beat, strip search and kill Dillard’s customers. Dillard’s stands alone as the only major department chain to use off-duty police officers. The company still maintains that using armed off-duty or retired officers for security is the best way to ensure the safety of its shoppers. You be the judge.

The killings that have taken place in Dillard’s stores are too numerous for me to describe in this brief column. However, I would like to elaborate on one of the most spectacular killings, that of Darryl Robinson, of Houston, Texas.

On June 1, 1994, Darryl Robinson went to a Dillard’s in Houston, Texas. Darryl was not suspected of shoplifting. A clerk accused Darryl of demanding $1 million from her and she called in Dillard’s security officers. Other witnesses and family members say Darryl asked for a $50 advance on his Dillard’s credit card. Instead of escorting Darryl out of the store for causing a disturbance, the security officers took him into a back room and beat him. The officers, however, were not finished with Darryl Robinson; after beating him, the officers hog-tied him. The security guards had already handcuffed Darryl’s wrists and his ankles. But that was not restraint enough. The officers bent Darryl in half and linked the wrist and ankle restraints behind his back. He was tied like a hog. Witnesses say an assistant manager was seen riding Darryl like a “bucking bronco” when he was tied up. Darryl died, in the hog-tied position, on a rolling flatbed dolly used to move boxes. There were two possible causes of his death: either Darryl died of a heart attack or of what is called “positional asphyxiation,” meaning he suffocated due to the hog-tying, fear, and the weight of the officers sitting on him.

Minority shoppers at Dillard’s are not always killed, most of the time the complaints come from people who have been harassed and humiliated. The law firm of Chargois & Ernster in Houston represents over 100 plaintiffs across the country who allege they were subjected to discriminatory treatment at Dillard’s stores. For information on the most recent cases, please see this article in HispanicBusiness.com.

Finally, it is apparently as difficult to be an employee of color at Dillard’s as it is to be a shopper. For a class action filed in 1999, Dillard’s reached a $5.6 million settlement on behalf of African-American employees in their Kansas and Missouri stores.

Dillard’s is as dangerous for minorities as Iraq is for, well, everybody. For this, Dillard’s is the reprehensible first recipient of Civil Rights Watch’s first Retail Wil’ Out Award. I urge you to read the full story on the Houston Press about the retail catastrophe that Dillard’s has allowed itself to become.

The blog entry states that two of the killings involved people who actually had shoplifted something.  They state one man stole a box of sunglasses.  This by itself is believable but when you read the following it makes you wonder if items were planted on the individuals once they were dead.

The following is a shoplifitng rendition of a college student who was killed n Nashville and is at rest with the belief that he’s a shoplifter and a thief.  This account is going to be a lot skewed because it’s coming from the police department.  If you read my ticke at http://drop.io/falseaccusation . You will find the officer used words to skew the ticket instead of  just stating the facts, he made statements that can never be proven.

Efforts are continuing to locate his next of kin in Nevada. He is in critical condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Trooper Aussie Thaxter, 41, who fired his state-issued gun one time, was treated at Vanderbilt for injuries sustained when he was dragged by the suspect’s car. He was released during the night.

Thaxter was working an off-duty security job at Dillard’s department store in a THP utility uniform when he was notified by an employee of a suspiciously acting man in the men’s department who was carrying several designer shirts and said he would be paying for them in another area of the store. While in Thaxter’s view, the man fled from the store to the parking lot carrying the shirts. Thaxter gave chase and ordered him to stop.

The man got into a Plymouth Breeze sedan that was backed into a handicapped parking space. As the suspect started the motor, Thaxter reached into the car through the open door in an effort to turn off the ignition. He was unsuccessful and the suspect put the car in gear and began to pull away with Thaxter still partly inside. Thaxter was dragged for about 20 yards before he managed to fire a shot. The suspect was hit in the neck and Thaxter fell to the pavement. The Plymouth continued on, entered a bank parking lot and came to rest against the bank building. A Metro officer who was in the mall was told of the commotion and rushed to the bank parking lot. He immediately radioed for an ambulance.

The investigation into the shooting is being headed by the Metro Police Department’s Homicide Unit. The THP’s Criminal Investigation Division, the TBI and an investigator from the District Attorney’s Office are assisting. The full investigative report will be forwarded to District Attorney General Torry Johnson for review when it is complete.

The above incident is about a supposedly guilty shoplifter who did not live to tell the story.  However I was falsely accused of stealing.  I went to jail for disorderly conduct.  I was stripped down, I had to put on a smelly orange jump suit and was being watched every second by an attendant.  Not only did I pull all of my clothes off and put on others.  I was given a drug test, an AIDS test and had to give urine, and  finger printed.  I had to leave my car on the mall grounds.   Furthermore I had to give up my pocket book and everything in it had to be checked into the police locker.  I was stripped of everything. Finally I was released on my signature because I did not have a criminal history what so ever.

I say all of this to say that the circumstances surrounding the dead college student above are eerily similar to mine.  I was approached and accused of shoplifting while in my car, my keys were in the ignition and I was about to leave the premises.   The security guard was at my window what if I would have tried to just leave, though I could not because I was blocked in by a truck.  Would I have been shot and had a box of sunglasses planted in my car since it was a vision care place I went to and forever known as a shoplifter.

The parking lot killings are too similar I am wondering if anyone accused of  shoplifting and shot in a parking lot while in their car is guilty.   It’s too convenient.  In the first  quoted blog entry it’s stated that a man had a box of sunglasses and was shot in the parking lot with a “whole” box of sunglasses.  It’s beginning to look like people target individuals to kill and plant items on them after they reach their cars because one can not plant multiple items on a dead body in the middle of a store but someones car is definitely a good place to plant items.

Senate Passes Questionable 850 Billion Dollar Bailout Package

In economy, elections, politics, presidential race on October 2, 2008 at 12:06 am

I heard on CNN this evening that the cost of the bailout will be 850 billion dollars.  The only thing I have to say is vote them out.  According to about.com the Senators in the chart at the bottom of the post are up for reelection this year.   Please be proactive and tell your friends in their states not to vote for them and to give money and votes to the opposing campaign I will be donating a small amount to Guy Davis who is running against Saxby Chambliss the senatorial candidate in Georgia, I will follow up my donation with a vote.   With diebold voting machines we still are not sure that our votes are being counted but have faith.

When Webb of Virginia was up for reelection I made sure I called my homefolk in Southern Virginia and told them that Webb’s Democratic opponent participated in outsourcing.  Prior to this call they were on the other Democratic guy’s team.  However after I explained to them that this particular man’s business was outsourcing they changed who they planned to support.  Some of them had even volunteered for the campaign but immediately stopped volunteering after they received more information about the other candidate and passed the word.  The other candidate won Northern Virginia but lost factory based Southern and Eastern Virginia.   I say all of this to say that the  Senate can not be so arrogant with our support and ignore the will of the people. You can make a difference.   Call your family and friends and tell them to vote against this bill by voting the Senators out who voted for it.  There should be no safe seats. What Bush and Paulson did to the markets was terrible, they essentially played the role of a hedge fund operators by saying something about the market and making it true by fearing investors.  Personally the way the stock market is doing business by responding to fear is rather strange.  It seems pretty clear cut that computer modeling ought to be able to tell you how a company is actually doing.  Oh I forgot some companies are cooking the books so that no one really knows whats going on and Paulson plans to bail his friends out who are doing this by giving them money.  CALL YOUR FRIENDS AND HOMEFOLK!  TELL THEM TO EXPRESS THEIR ANGER WITH A VOTE AGAINST THE SENATORS BELOW!

In any event the list of Senators seeking reelection follows below.  I need to verify who voted for the bill and who did not but please, please, please if you know of individuals in the states that these Senators are from please tell them to vote these individuals out of office, even though Biden will probably be Vice President we need him voted out on the ballot.  Here is the list according to about.com As for Obama, is anyone really  believing that he would not have voted for the war, we are watching what he does and not what he says, furthermore does anyone doubt that he was the one who put in the provision to give ACORN money probably in the Rezco manner of give me some later or give me a high priced gift.  I am still trying to support a democrat for the presidency because the Republican tricks as illustrated by the Bushs’ are just totally outrageous, wasn’t the last Bank bailout when Bush Sr was VP or President.  They have robbing the American people down to a science, even now I’m pretty doubtful that eight years of a democratic presidency can help us recover from this Republican Administration.  Welcome to the Banana Republic of the U.S.

US Senate Seats Up For Re-Election

Campaign 2008

3 October 2007

Summary
One-third of the 100 Senate seats are up for election every two years; on 4 November 2008, voters will select 34 Senators (one special election). These senators will serve a six-year term from 3 January 2009 until 2 January 2015.

The following chart reflects the potential that a seat might change parties in this election cycle; it is based on analysis from several election consultants.

Analysis
The November 2006 election gave Democrats a slim majority — 51-49 — because two Independents caucus with Democrats. In the event of a tie, the Vice President, a Republican, casts the deciding vote.

Going into this election, the Democrats are at an advantage because most of the seats (22) are held by Republicans. Thus, they have fewer seats (12) to defend.

Eight of the 33 are first-term Senators; only one of these is a Democrat. One, Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) was re-elected in 2002 after retiring in 2000.

There is one special election, in Wyoming (which will elect two Senators in November).

Five senators have announced retirement. Should Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE) not be nominated for President, he will run for re-election. Tim Johnson (D-SD) is still recovering from brain surgery.

  • Sen. Wayne Allard (R-CO, announced 1/15/2007)
  • Sen. Larry Craig (R-ID, resignation announced then rescinded)
  • Sen. Pete Domenici (R-NM, announced 10/3/2007)
  • Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE, announced 9/10/2007)
  • Sen. John Warner (R-VA, announced 8/31/2007)

The legend for the chart:

  • Competitive: These races have the potential to become competitive.
  • Toss-Up: These are uncertain or too close to call.

The Problem is not the Message; It is the Messenger

In politicians, politics on September 29, 2008 at 3:41 pm

I listened to congress today and many in congress seem to think that the American People do not know what’s going on.  Congress thinks that Americans are not listening to the fact that Small Businesses may not make payroll because their money market accounts are not FDIC insured and their banks may go out of business (take your money out know, it it’s in a non FDIC account, so this does not happen).  They do not know that we understand that parents may not be able to get student loans for their childrens’ educations’ (educational institutions should voluntarily defer payments until after the election is over, or the government should extend some of that obviously available 700 billion dollars to Federal Student Aid, I have yet to see a justifiable reason for giving Bush and Paulson a blank check with a maximum of 700 billion dollars).  In addition we understand that Banks are hesitant to lend to other banks because they are afraid they don’t have the money to pay them back.  Well if the banks don’t have any money they should not be asking for it and should not be trying to sell other banks a fake bill of goods.  A couple knows how much they can pay for a house, a bank knows how much money they can afford to borrow.  Banks should not borrow more then they can afford to pay. In this brief summation I have of the bailout situation and the reasons for giving Bush 700 billion dollars I hope I have shown some understanding of “What’s Going On”.

With that said,  I have to say that inherently I do not have a problem with bailing out Wall Street.  I think after 911 Wall Street needs a lot of breaks but I have a great big objection to giving George Bush and Paulson 700 billion dollars.  If you want to know the depth of my feelings, if you’ve read 1984 and remember the five minute hate scene where the enemy comes on TV and everyone screams at the TV in pure hate and disgust, then you understand how since Bush has asked for the 700 billion dollars how I feel about him.  This last blackmail, this last debasement has just made me as an American feel so debased and taken advantage of.  It’s creating flashbacks, first flash back – hanging chads, a statement my “brother” is Governor of Florida he’s not going to let me lose.  I remember a browser I had “opera” that would automatically reload every several seconds that I looked at the whole night wondering what was going to happen as the numbers were constantly updated, then hanging chads, recounts, a helicopter following a Uhaul full of votes, and finally a Supreme Court Decision, the second flashback 911, i don’t know if Bush is behind 911 but the same black mail that’s happening now to get us to pass the 700 billion dollar bill is the same blackmail that went on to nullify the constitution and get the patriot bill passed, the unifying cry for the passing of the patriot act was never another 911,  the third flashback; Iraq, the UN told George Bush over and over that their were no weapons of mass destruction.  Instead I had to see a bustling Iraqi economy with cars, fruit stands, and people strolling down the streets, reduced to a pile of rubble with little orphan children, this does not even begin to take into consideration the dead American troops. Even with the Iraq war years later after it started we learned that the Bush administration had falsified documents and lied so that we could go into Iraq.  The fourth flashback is a failure to pass a bill that would have given children medical care.  This was horrifying to me that the president of the United States did not pass a bill to help children.  This is why when bush says that he’s concerned about people losing their jobs, making payroll, and the American people I know that he’s lying like hell.  He does not care for the American people he never has.  If he cared for the American people if we are really in crisis he would find a way where he nor his representatives would never touch the money he’s asking for.

Finally I say the problem is not the message.  Months ago while in the grocery store many people using their debit cards were not able to pay for our groceries because because for no reason our cards were declined.    I was at the self checkout and we were saying our cards have been declined.  There was a problem then and their probably is a problem now but please do not give Bush a blank check of 700 billion dollars, he’s only going to steal it.  Please Congress find a way to administrate everything from the government until Bush gets the Hell OUT.  It’s the messenger not the message.

In My School of Thought Paulson Gets A Great Big F A three page document in exchange for 700 billion dollars

In The Economy, economy, politics on September 26, 2008 at 4:01 am

Every Time I think of how the country was asked to give 700 billion dollars to the Department of the Treasury from a three page letter I am incredulous.  As a Political Science Major who’s never worked in the field,  with extensive coursework in Public Policy, I know that if I had turned in 3 pages for any Policy Evaluation of an issue or Policy Solution, a three page prescription would have netted me a great big F.  I think the minimum for a decent grade not to mention 700 billion dollars was twenty pages.  As a former debater and a person with extensive experience with crafting public policy.  There is no way possible Paulson could have given any serious thought to why he needed 700 billion dollars with three pages.

As far as debate goes, you can’t even begin to debate adequately with three pages because your competition who has to be familiar with all basic aspects of the issue would tear you apart.  For instance if you were debating the overall aspect of the crashing economy.  You would have to know what industry’s were or would be affected, what would throw the country over the brink into a depression, what solutions were needed to solve the problem, statistics, justifications etc, all buttressed by noted authorities well respected in their field. Finally after the solutions were proposed there would be talk of cost.   The price of entry into debate is being able to SHIT, as one former debater coined it.  T – Topicality - Do you have the ability to even firmly grasp the over riding issues and what’s going on, I -Inherencey – What are the inherent barriers keeping the problem from being solved, ex.  Why is the U.S. facing a depression or in depression, and what is causing the depression?  H -Harm - What will happen if we don’t solve the problem?  this is one Secretary Paulson did get, he skipped immediately to pushing our country over the brink.  Finally in debate your solution is called S-Solvency which includes a policy prescription and solutions to the problem.  You will lose if you say give me 700 billion dollars and that solves the problem.  You have to have step by step solutions. I’m sorry to say but a three page letter for 700 billion dollars would get you laughed at.

AS far as formal training in policy drafting and making the same applies.   One wonders with such a large staff why Paulson would deliver a three page document in exchange for 700 billion dollars.  Don’t the American people pay the salaries of policy wonks at the Department of the Treasury to examine broad issues of the economy, and render proposed policies that will provide the solution.  Heck even a computer simulation predicted Hurricane Katrina at least five years prior to it’s happening.  I’m sure their is a computer that Paulson could have used to get some statistics for why he needed 700 billion dollars.  The problem here is that Paulson did not even try to make his robbing of the citizens look good.  Furthermore, I am even wondering if this is his jurisdiction, yes he’s supposed to keep the economy going, but the Department of Commerce is supposed to be the governmental liaison between Wall Street and Main Street.  You know I have only one thing to say, when I graduated from college I sent out hundred and hundreds of applications to government looking for a position as a policy analyst, no one hired me.  It is a little disappointing to see a three page policy proposal for 700 billion dollars.  I can’t even get a micro loan of $1000.00 without a business plan.

Then again just like the Iraq War.,  this situation is just friends helping friends and I believe what the callers of C-Span believe that once the deal is done the money is going to the Caymans and to Dubai.  This is essentially a buyout of Wall Street and they don’t have to put it back into the U.S. economy.  I have to admit that if someone bought my business for 700 billion dollars and I had a nightmare experience of employees faking documents, clients lying about their worth etc.  There is no “way” I would try to come back and do business with the same types of people again.  I would take my loan money to China, and to places where I know the people would pay me back and the people processing the loans were honest. After getting my share of the 700 billion dollars I would leave the country.  The crisis that we are in is because we hire people who ask for 700 billion dollars because of three pages of documentation and “get it” because they threaten us or because we like them.  This is not just a depression this is a disaster with a massively undereducated population that are not assets to the U.S. anymore.  The one thing that Bush did get sort of right was a focus on education, however the high drop out rate is not good for the economy so he sort of got it wrong too.  I heard a speech that Mc Cain gave in 2005 where he had already figured out that we had a crisis in the United States as indicated by his words, he said something like  the following I went and talked to the President of Ireland and I asked him how he had turned his country around from being a place that people were fleeing from to a place where people were flocking to, McCain went on to say that the president of Ireland said that he committed himself to the education of the populace.  I understand that with our Mobile society it is impossible for us to control how long and how children are educated but we must, the health of our country is at stake.

Finally, I suppose since the Secretary of the Treasury can ask for 700 billion dollars with three pages, I have a right to offer my own suggestions in a couple of paragraphs.  First of all I think something like the WPA should be established to give people jobs in this crisis, second of all I believe that Loans and maybe buyouts should be given to Wall Street to firms that go through an application process with heavy documentation “required”,  since Paulson has demonstrated that he could not be objective with his non bailout of Lehman Brothers and possibly Merrill Lynch (Does anyone want to do business with Lynch after being bought by the thieving bank Bank of America, I had three bank accounts prior to Bank of America with Bank Cards only, I never had an overdraft, I had a bank card with Bank of America also and in the first month of use they had managed to charge me over $150 in overdraft fees for an amount less than $25. and no I did not balance my accounts but I did what I did with every other account i  called for the balance and evidently the balance was wrong because Bank of America fleeced me with overdraft fees just from a bank card, so as far as that buy out goes, ordinary individuals need to stay as far away from the New Merrill Lynch as possible, banks 1000 times smaller than Bank of America could manage to accurately reflect my account balance but BofA could not) In any event Paulson has demonstrated in his refusal to give equal treatment to Lehman brothers and Merrill Lynch while in a credit crisis, that he does not have the fairness and judgment to administer 700 billion dollars.  If I were congress I would ask Banks and Investment institutions to create proposals with justifications and needs asking for the money and  expedite the loan or purchase of securities to a day if necessary.  I will repeat this one more time, I would in no way or no how give a man who asked for 700 billion dollars on three pages any money “never”.

Finally I mentioned McCain, I have to mention Obama too, Obama  has showed great judgment in saying no, they can wait a little while longer, he also showed great judgment in actually consulting experts as in plural on the subject. I think our failure in leadership has come about because our leaders believe that they ought to know everything and do not consult or respect the knowledge of others.  As for Mc Cain he showed great judgment in suspending his campaign to work on this issue.  Evidently, he clued Obama in to the fact that he had to stay too, because CNN and Fox are reporting that Obama has not left Capital Hill.  I think even the suggestion that Mc Cain is trying to grandstand politically is ludicrous.   He has been a Senator for a very long time and several laws have his name on them.  He wants to be involved and objective politicians on both sides wanted him to be Involved. Kudos to both men!

Sleepers “Wake Up” Wall Street Does not Have the Money! YOU CAN NOT SEND WALL STREET TO JAIL

In politics on September 22, 2008 at 3:36 pm

It’s pretty basic:

You buy a new house for $300,000 30% of the proceeds probably get’s divided between the Realtor and the mortgage person and the builder get’s the other 70%.  HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLO Wall Street does not have the money they counted on the consumers to pay their debts, they did give consumers loans who were not qualified fo get them but this was for a little or a lot of commission but by no means the cost of a house.

There were unscrupulous people who would then buy the house for $500 once it was repossessed fix it up and sell it for $300,000 again and again and again.  The sellers are the people with the money, and they can be anyone from a bank to a builder to an individual to your brother or even your momma.  Wall Street just guaranteed the loans, they were supposed to check someones credit and say they were a good risk.  They failed to do this because someone wanted a commission.  WAKE UP Wall Street absolutely positively does not have the money! Maybe you should look towards borrowers who knowingly lied about income , to get into a house they could not afford. I went to an event and a mortgage person got up and said they don’t check your income just say you had a business and put what you made and your loan will be approved.

I No Longer Sew Like My Ancestors Therefore I Go Naked World Hunger in Context

In politics on June 6, 2008 at 1:39 pm

Several leaders at the UN World Food Summit  asserted that some of the hunger problems in their countries were not due to a lack of food, but a lack of income possessed by their citizens to afford food.  They asserted that this phenomenon is causing not just a hungry world but a violent world fueled on by storefront visions of food by a starving populace unable to afford sustenance.  This situation has been caused and fueled on by free trade and capitalism.  Many rural inhabitants of poorer countries seeing the bright lights and big cities of their urbanized centers have abandoned their countries old practices of self sufficiency through self production of food and other items and rely heavily on the promise of a job at an urban center and the income to purchase what they may have normally made, or grown in their rural homesteads.

According to John Thavis of the Catholic News Service quoting a paper produced by the Vatican:

“long-standing subsidies to agricultural producers in richer countries have artificially kept down the international price of food products and thus discouraged farming in poorer countries. The result has been large-scale abandonment of local agriculture and increasing urbanization. Today, most poor countries are net importers of food, making them highly vulnerable as prices continue to rise.”

According to Brace Stokes of the National Journal :

”The mindless liberalization mentality at the World Bank, the U.S. Agency for International Development, and among my fellow economists misses the fact that food is a biological necessity as well as a commodity,” said Peter Timmer, a visiting professor at Stanford University’s Program on Food Security and the Environment.

The world’s developing countries have increasingly started to depend on a steady flow of food from multinational food producers which is at the whim and the mercy of natural forces.  Several years ago according to Stokes the assumption of the world was that hunger would be stamped out by world trade and production however due to various reasons the opposite has happened and the world now faces a crisis of starvation.

Stokes, furthermore discusses the fact that the rise in food prices does benefit some poor producers and farmers of food, however turns around and penalizes poor people in the same region who are not food producers.

The solution many people advocate is arming poor people with a hoe and seeds and placing the power of food production and self sufficiency back into the hands of the starving people around the world.

This is just one aspect of the world hunger issue which has many causes.
